Where will I be...

5 year plans. I have always been a 5 year planner. I like to know where the road will take me, or at least in which direction I am headed. Four years ago, I knew at 31 I would be married to Matt. I knew 3 months into dating he was it. So here I am at 31, thinking, where is my crazy little adventure, called life going to take me next. Everything is in line just the way I thought it would be. So, what is next?

My new inspiration in life is a lovely little movie called UP. It is so beautiful, and I really can't help sobbing like a baby when I watch the scenes with Ellie and Carl.

Matt even looks just like Carl.

There is so much love. The kind, I have always dreamed of. The beauty in their love is simplicity. The lesson I learned from watching this film, is that "the boring things are the thing you should remember".The times Matt and I just hang out and watch movies on the couch and laugh so hard we snort. Taking the dogs for a walk in the evening. Holding hands in bed. Those are the most important things in life. So where will our life take us next? Who knows, but I know it will be fun, it will be us. Hm.. maybe a little Mimi or Matt would be a fun adventure to go on...

I pledge allegience to the Craft

Life has been crazy these last few months. Ever since I got back from my trip to Poland, I can't seem to catch my breath, let my brain take a break. I have been missing something in my life and I just couldn't put my finger on it. Marriage is good, money is good, family is good.. What is missing, hmmmm..... then WAA-BANG. I haven't created anything in months. I haven't touched my camera. I have't sewn a stich. Don't even get me started on my poor hot glue gun. My poor baby. I have been missing a giant piece of my life, my creativity. All of this made me think, I need to pledge never to let my mind sit idle. So with this, I bring to you my own version of.... Pledge of Allegience to the Craft

I pledge allegiance to the craft
of united states of creativity,

and to the community for which who blogs,

uniting us one stitch at a time,

innovation, design and imagination for all.

Who's with me? I think a Las Vegas Creative Circle is in need right now!

"Fat Mimi" vs. "Not-So-Fat Mimi"

A conversation yesterday reminded me that in November it will be my 5 year anniversary since I had my lap-band surgery. It will also mark 5 years since Matt and I went on our 1st-1st date. Crazy how fast the last 5 years have swept by.

This is me 5 years ago. This is who I like to call "Fat Mimi." I love "Fat Mimi."

This is me now, who I like to refer to as "Not-So-Fat Mimi."

I am not as vivacious as "Fat Mimi" but I hold my own. Life is less carefree. I have 1 gray hair. But I have the love of my life, finally a job that I am good at and I love and for once in my life, I kinda feel like everyone else. I am no longer the funny friend side-kick. I don't have to wear a skirt as a tube top. And most importantly, I can shop in normal stores. Yes, I am sorry, but that is more important then health for me. I am just speaking the truth.

I like to have conversations with my cousin Carla and best friend, Crystal about when is the right time to let yourself go. And we all agree the answer is NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER. So the next step in the journey of Mimi is.... "Skinny Mimi." I need to fit in couture before I die. That is my goal. Oscar, Dolce, the even gown section at Saks and Nieman's...... ahhhhhh. I will be "Skinny Mimi" in the next 6 months. Who is wants to join me February 6th at Saks to try on dress? Now I need a game plan.

It's my Friday!

For the first time in MONTHS, Matt and I will have 2 whole days off together! What to do, what to do?
I think some well spent time at the pool is in order for the weekend.

And... we just might go to the movies and eat some popcorn too!

FukuBurgerTruck will be checked out. Their burgers look legit.

Oh the possibilities. I hope this weekend is as amazing as I am dreaming it to be. How are you spending the weekend? With friends? With family? With your love? Have the best weekend of of your life and I will post pics from my wonderous adventures.

Fill in the Blank Friday

While checking blogs this morning, I found this fun little blog and decided to play along. Enjoy...

Give this blog some love the little things we do

1. If I didn't have to work anymore I would open my own Bed and Breakfast and make art all day long.

2. My favorite thing about a vacation is seeing new things, making new adventures to fill up the chapters in my book of life.

3. When packing for a trip I try every single thing in my closet on. Then I lay out all of my favorite outfits on the floor. I am a flat packer so i can get sooo much stuff in my luggage. I am the best packer ever.

4. If I could go on a road trip with anyone (dead OR alive) I would choose My cousins, a little caravan action from DC to NC, because, They are awesome. Our family did that every year and it was always really fun. We would use our CB radio and come up with ridiculous names. Memories and we would go from Virginia to Emeral Isle North Caroline. I really hope that my kids get to experience it one day .

5. My top 3 absolute travel essentials are 1) IPOD, 2) My skin care regimin, 3) my Chi, just in case my hair goes wonky.

6. Vacations are something I look forward to and then they go by too fast .

7. On vacation you must always enjoy the people you are with, and eat everything in site!

What is your perfect vacation? Beach, cruise, Europe??

I am off to dream of my next dream vacay.

Emeral Isle, NC... my favorite place in the world.

When I was a kid this place was like a castle. There were bunk beds and it was amazing.

Hangin' with my Homies

Is that how you spell "homies"? I am not sure, is it even a proper word? Anywho, so every now and then, I talk Starry Eyed Charlie into doing photoshoots like when we were kids. It is really wonderful to be the one in front of the camera instead of behind the lens and Starry Eyed Charlie might be the only person in the world that I let shoot me. You know, our mothers did the exact same thing at our age. There are stacks and stacks of beautiful images of our mothers at our age. When I was young, I would look at my mothers pictures and I would dream of the day I was her age and be an adult, in love, seeing the world and being beautiful. Now the day is here, I am keeping that promise to myself, so one day my little one will have a pile of pictures of her mother and dream of the day she too would be this wonderful age.

So please enjoy. Thank you to my creative-partner-in-crime Starry Eyed Charlie. Read her blog, now!

Lovin' my lovely earrings

I really want to thank Dinosaur Toes for my lovely, beautiful, unique earrings. I have been wearing them everyday and get compliments every time I rock them! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also, the blog is getting a new look. Fall is here and it needs a little love and tender care. So let me know what you think.

Have a wonderful night.
